Downhole Electric Heating Technology for Oil Wells

Downhole electric heating technology for oil wells primarily addresses a series of challenges encountered during crude oil production and transportation—such as severe wax deposition in the wellbore, excessive load on pumping rods, and difficulties in crude oil flow—all stemming from high crude oil viscosity, high wax content, and low temperatures. Depending on the type of oil well and the specific oil production processes involved, various different techniques can be employed to solve downhole heating issues.

Overview of Downhole Electric Heating Technology for Oil Wells

Downhole electric heating technology for oil wells primarily addresses a series of challenges encountered during crude oil production and transportation—such as severe wax deposition downhole, excessive load on pumping rods, and difficulties in crude oil transmission—caused by high crude oil viscosity, high wax content, and low temperatures. Depending on the type of oil well and the specific oil production processes involved, various different techniques can be employed to solve the problem of downhole heating.
For different oil wells, our company commonly offers the following downhole electric heating solutions:
1. Electric heating of hollow sucker rods for underground use —Primarily for downhole heating of rod-pumped wells equipped with beam pumps, screw pumps, and other rod-driven oil production systems.
The advantages include high heating efficiency, convenient construction, and a simple and reliable structure.
2. Electric heating of the annular space around the downhole tubing — A continuous steel-armored skin-effect heating cable is inserted into the annular space between the oil tubing and casing to heat the oil tubing. This method can be applied to downhole heating in the vast majority of oil production wells.
The advantages include a wide range of applications, low investment, convenient construction, and a simple yet reliable structure.
3. Downhole tubing core-through electric heating — A continuous steel-armored skin-effect heating cable is lowered into the tubing downhole to directly heat the crude oil inside the tubing. This method is primarily used for downhole heating in rodless production wells, such as electric submersible pump wells and self-flowing wells.
The advantages include high thermal efficiency, low investment, convenient construction, and a simple yet reliable structure.
4. Downhole Immersed Tubing Electric Heating Device — A single, waterproof electrically heated tubing is lowered into the wellbore. During oil production, the crude oil carries heat out of the wellbore, thereby heating the wellbore itself.
The advantages are low investment, excellent heating performance, and flexible well-depth capability.

▶ Downhole Hollow Sucker Rod Heating Device

Primarily used for rod-pumped wells equipped with beam pumps, screw pumps, and other rod-driven oil production systems to heat the downhole wellbore.
Its features include high heating efficiency, convenient construction, and a simple and reliable structure.

▶ Heating the annular space of downhole tubing

Suitable for most oil well tubing heating applications.
The advantages include a wide range of applications, low investment, convenient construction, and a simple yet reliable structure.

▶ Downhole tubing core-through electric heating

Primarily used for rodless oil wells such as electric submersible pumps and self-flowing wells, providing downhole tubing heating.
The advantages are high heating efficiency, low investment, and a simple and reliable structure. 。

▶ Immersion Oil Pipe Heating Device

Suitable for most oil well tubing heating applications.
The advantage is that the heating depth is flexible—it can be run into the wellbore below the wax deposition point for downhole heating, or it can be deployed at the wellhead for surface heating.
Small in size, easy to lower into the well, excellent heating performance, and low investment.
